Wilma A. Symons, 93, of Lonaconing, passed away peacefully into eternal life surrounded by family on September 14, 2017.
She was born on July 20, 1924 in Lonaconing. She was the daughter of the late James and Jean (Mitchell) Moffatt. She is also preceded in death by the love of her life, Charles A. Symons; as well as a sister, Gladys Kirk, a brother, Gilbert Moffatt, a son, Robert Symons and a daughter Gilberta Kelly.
Wilma was a member of the former Grahamtown Gospel Hall. She was once an employee at the Lonaconing Silk Mill. Wilma was a dedicated and Godly wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.
She leaves behind two children, her daughter, Charlene Robertson and husband, Cokey of Smithsburg; and her son, Kevin Symons and wife, Cheryl of Lonaconing. She is also survived by a son-in-law, James Kelly of Corriganville; a daughter-in-law, Sue Symons of Cumberland; 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Friends and family will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Saturday, September 16th from 6 to 8 pm and Sunday, September 17th from 12 to 1pm. A funeral service will follow the Sunday visitation at 1:00 pm with the Rev. George Loar officiating.
Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the George’s Creek Ambulance Service.
