William Frederick “Big Dog” Lamberson Jr., 57, of Latrobe St., Barton, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Egle Nursing and Rehab Center, Lonaconing.
Born November 22, 1954 in Cumberland he was the son of the late William Frederick and Elizabeth (Barnard) Lamberson Sr.
Bill was a 1972 graduate of Valley High School. He served in the Navy for 3 years on the aircraft carrier the USS Hancock where he assisted in the evacuation of US troops from Vietnam. He was dedicated to the Barton Hose Co. # 19 for over 36 years, where he served as Deputy Fire Chief. He was awarded Fireman of the Year award 7 times and was also awarded the Most Emergency Responses in 2001. He received the MD Dept. of Natural Resources Director’s Commendation for fire suppression in 2001. In 2002, Bill was inducted into the Allegany-Garrett Counties Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association’s Hall of Flame.
Bill is survived by his sisters, Ann Sewell, Fallston, MD and Susan Shaffer, Ramsey, NJ. He is also survived by his niece and nephews, Stacey Bredar, Ashton Shaffer and Christopher Shaffer.
Family and Friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Monday, June 25th 2012 from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM. The Barton Hose Company will hold a memorial service on Monday at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at the Boal Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, June 26th 2012 at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Mark Hickman officiating.
Interment will be in Mt. View Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Barton Hose Company.
