William Kight, Sr.

William Frederick Kight, Sr., 85 of Marsh Avenue, Westernport, went home to be with his Lord and Savior and to be reunited with the loves of his life, Delores Jean Kight and their beloved dog, Sassy on July 14, 2021. Bill was surrounded by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren when he made his heavenly ascent.

Born November 20, 1935, in Beryl, WV, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mildred Kight. Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Don Kight and his sisters, Mary Jane Thrasher, Margaret Evans and Joanne Kight.

He is survived by his children, Debbie Marple and husband, Tim of Piedmont, WV, Judy Hamilton and husband, Tom, William Kight, Jr and wife, Schelotta, Kim Bowers and husband, Jeff, and Crissy Fazenbaker and husband, Phil, all of Westernport. Bill was a loving grandfather, leaving behind his grandchildren, Ashley Snyder, Shanna Bennett, Cory Marple, JJ McGoye, Britni Weiss, Kayla Bowers, Shane Fazenbaker, Shaylene Bowers, Sami Jo Kight, Sarah Fazenbaker, Michelle Kight and Madison Bowers; great grandchildren, Allison Snyder, Emily Gallagher, Kendyll Marple, Kenzie Weiss, Kylie Miller and Waylon Burgess. Bill is also survived by a sister, Helen Braithwaite of Piedmont, WV, a special cousin, Carol Wilson and brother and sister in laws, Mary and Raymond Clark, Carolyn and Norman Fitzgerald, Dorothy and Donald Sines, Betty and Jerry Wilt, Robert and Candy Riggleman, Bernard and Mary Pat Riggleman; numerous nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Maggie Robey.

Bill proudly served his country and was a Korean War United States Army Veteran. He was a life time member of the Potomac Fire Department for 55 years. He was a member of the First Assembly of God, Westernport, the American Legion and the Odd Fellows Hall.

Bill retired from the Moran Coal Company as a truck driver and foreman, where he was employed for 58 years.

Family and friends will be received at Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Saturday, July 17th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. A fireman’s service honoring Bill will begin at 6:30 p.m. A funeral Service will take place at the funeral home on Sunday, July 18th at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Glen Johnson officiating.

Interment will be at Philos Cemetery, Westernport.

Firefighters never die, they just burn forever in the hearts of those who love them.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Potomac Fire Company.
