William E. Dye 77 of Barton Maryland, passed away Saturday July 22, 2017 at the Frostburg Village Nursing Home after a short illness.

Born March 2, 1940 in Westernport he was the son of the late Cecil G. Dye and Nellie (Shuhart) Dye. He was also, preceded in death by an uncle, Martin Eichhorn of Annapolis, MD.

He is survived by his wife Sue Ann (Lepley) Dye. In addition to his wife, is his aunt JoAnn (Shuhart) Eichhorn and her daughter Nancy Eichhorn.  He is also survived by the second love of his life, his cat Gabbie.

Bill and Sue Ann would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on July 28, 2017.

Bill was a graduate of Valley High School and Frostburg State College with a BS and Master’s Degree in education.

He started his teaching career at Fort Ashby High School, later transferring to Keyser High School.

He taught 20 years in Mineral County, West Virginia then went to Allegany County, MD and taught at Valley High School until it became Westmar High School where he retired in 2002.

Family and friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel in Barton on Monday, July 24th from 3 to 7 pm.

Upon his request his body will be cremated.  A celebration of life service will be held at the Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum on Thursday July 27, 2017 at 11:00 am with Reverend Carl Cowan, officiating.  For friends, neighbors and relatives lunch will be provided at Hobo’s Restaurant in Ellerslie, MD immediately following.

The family would like to thank all employees at the WMHS and Frostburg Village Nursing Home for their tender and professional care, kindness and friendship to Bill and his wife.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of ones choice in Bill’s memory.
