Shirley Newcomb

Westernport, MD

Shirley Marie Newcomb, 93, formerly of Westernport, and most recently of the Oakland Nursing and Rehab Center, passed away Friday, September 23, 2016 at the nursing center.

Born March 29, 1923 in McCoole, she was the daughter of the late Foster and Lena (Phillips) Harrison. She is also preceded in death by her husband Louis Newcomb Sr., and her three sisters and one brother.

Shirley was married to her husband, Louis on November 16, 1946. Shirley was very active in the American Legion auxiliary. She was an avid reader, even after she lost her sight she enjoyed listening to audio books.  She also enjoyed working on crossword puzzles. Shirley was once a clerk and a manager for the HP Store.

She is survived by her sons, Louis Newcomb Jr. and wife Glenda of Summerfield, FL, Gary Newcomb and wife Beth, and Stephen Newcomb and wife Cheryl, all of Oakland. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Carrie Hordubay and husband Aaron of Oakland, Matthew Newcomb and wife Kelly of Oakland, Aaron Newcomb and wife Laryn of Oakland, Lauren Lechmaier and husband Matt of Winters, CA, Autumn Newcomb-Shay of Oakland, and Hannah Newcomb of Oakland, and ten great grandchildren.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Tuesday, September 27th from 11 AM to 1 PM.  A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Andrew Agnew officiating.

Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, WV.
