Sarah Andrews

Sarah Jeanne (Kenner) Andrews, 84, of Westernport, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2019.  Born in Keyser on January 3, 1935, she was the only child of the late Hazel M. (Adams) Green and Charles E. Kenner & James G. Green.

Sarah was ’53 graduate of Bruce High School and attended PSC and FSU.  She began her teaching career at the Clary Street Learning Center, Keyser, WV.  She went on to become an Instructional Aide for over 35 years with the Allegany County Board of Education.  Most of those years were spent at Westernport Elementary School.  While teaching during the day, Sarah also maintained a full-time job as Bartender evenings at Whelan’s Tavern for some 20 years.  Having loved teaching very much, she also enjoyed serving, conversing, and joking with her customers and former students, most of whom became dear friends.

Sarah was co-founder of the BHS Pom-Pom Squad in the late ’70’s, a past member of the American Legion Aux., Past Pocahontas and a current member of the Petunia Council of the Redmen Club, Westernport.

A beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Sarah leaves behind her children Michael E. Andrews (Pam), NC, and Endia Zais Deniker, Westernport; grandchildren Whitney Zais-Butler (Chad) Westernport, Haley Zais Long (Rick), NC, Kellen Zais (Stephanie), CA and Sarah-Margaret Andrews, VA; great-grandchildren, Griffin, Keagan, Killian, Chaney, Allison, Gabriella, Paisley, Alex, Maddox, and Paxton.

Friends will be received at Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Friday, December 6, 2019 from 4 to 7pm.  A memorial service will follow at 7pm.  Private interment will be held at a later date.
