Surrounded by his family Roger William Bennett went to heaven on May 18th 2014.

Born on December 24th 1941 in Keyser West Virginia, the son of the late Maurice and Christine Bennett. Roger was a loving husband of fifty-one years to Virginia Marie “Lee” Bennett and a proud, adoring father of four children and seven grandchildren who were his life. He had seven grandchildren that he was very proud of.  His dedication to his grandchildren mirrored that of his own children.  Anyone close to him knew that the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren were his favorite topics of conversation.  Despite his sicknesses, he persevered to enjoy life to the fullest. He enjoyed car shows and building his bright orange, Ford 1966 F-100.  To him, family was his entire life, cherishing his wife, children, grandchildren, and friends.

He attended Valley High School in Lonaconing, Maryland.  He served in the United States Air Force as a mechanic in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with his wife and children.  Then, he and his family moved to Camden, South Carolina and was employed by Dupont and Co. and later returned to Maryland and was employed by Winner Brothers’ Coal Company until he became disabled.

He is survived by his devoted wife Virginia Marie Bennett, four children, Sherry Wagoner and husband Doug, Charleston, SC, Lori Beeman and husband Terry, Westernport, Kenny Bennett and wife Sharon, Cresaptown, Tracy Smith and husband Billy, Bowloi; seven grandchildren, Lee Beeman and wife Michelle, D.J. Minnick, Ryan Beeman and fiancé Erica McLewee, Derek Bennett, Evan Bennett, Eric Smith, and Erica Bennett; Six brothers, Richard and wife Shirley, Donnie and wife Patsy, Gene “Moe” and wife Clara, David and wife Ginny, Harry and wife Mary Beth, and Steve and wife Tara; two brother-in-laws, George Michael Lee, Raymond K.  Lee and wife Debbie, and several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday May 20, 2014, from 2:00-4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm at Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, MD with funeral services at 1:00 pm on Wednesday. Preacher Walter Lancaster will officiate the service.

He will be missed and loved by all who knew him.  As a man who lived constantly with a smile on his face, he touched every soul who knew him.
