Robert Harry “Bob” Rizer peacefully entered into eternity on Tuesday morning, April 3, with his beloved wife of 65 years by his side.
Born on August 25, 1926, he was the son of the late Palmer “Saul” Rizer and Opal (Clark) Rizer. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Clifton “Lindy” Rizer; a great-grandson, Casey Shockey; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Gladys and Hamil Wilt; and his son-in-law, Charles Teets.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Fannie, and children, Neal (Audrey) Rizer, Savage River Road; Crystal Teets, Mechanicsville, VA; and Wandell Feaster, New Creek, WV; seven grandchildren, Dawn (Richard) Shockey, Lonaconing; Darrin (Julia) Rizer, Bloomington; Brandi (Clint) Meese, Salisbury, PA; Joshua Teets, Midlothian, VA; Megan Teets, Virginia Beach, VA; Matthew Teets, Mechanicsville, VA; and Stefannie Feaster, New Creek, WV. He is also survived by one sister, Ruth Streets, Falling Waters, WV, a brother-in-law, Calvin Winters (Maedean), Romeo, MI, seven great grandchildren, one great-great grandson, numerous nieces and nephews, and three very special neighbors, Russ, Pat, and Mike Moon.
Bob attended Bruce High School and was very proud to later attain his GED while in his 70’s. He was a member of Hiram Lodge #103 AF&AM, a member of Mountainside Marine Detachment #1071, Kelly Mansfield Post #52 American Legion, Piedmont, WV, Queen’s Point V.F.W., #6775. He also attended Bloomington United Methodist Church. He served his country as a proud U.S. Marine from 1944-1946. When he returned home from military duty, he married his sweetheart and they began their long, happy life together. Bob was employed by Westvaco in the Machine Coating Dept., retiring in 1990 with 42½ years of service.
Bob was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He was always positive, patient, and kind. He loved his home by the river and could often be found sitting on his back porch enjoying the scenery.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Thursday, from 6-9 p.m. Hiram Lodge will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, at 1:00 p.m., with interment at Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
