Richard Lynn Bittinger, 56, of Bloomington, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013.

Born June 1, 1957 in Oakland, he was the son of Richard Earl and Vonda Jean (Pike) Bittinger of Bloomington.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Scotty Bittinger and his cat “Taz”.

Ricky was a 1975 graduate of Bruce High School.  He was a United States Air Force Veteran.  He retired from CSX Railway System.  Ricky was a member of Hiram Lodge #103 AF & AM, Westernport, Ali Ghan Shrine, Cumberland, Cumberland Scottish Rite, and Knights of St. Andrew and the Cumberland York Rite.  His life was his family, friends and pets.

In addition to his parents, Richard and Vonda, he leaves behind a brother, Donnie Bittinger and wife Misty of Damascus, a sister, Cindy Everline and husband David of McCoole, a niece, Krystle Wack and husband Donny, and a nephew, Davey Everline and wife Faith.

Ricky’s body was cremated.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM.  Hiram Lodge #103 will hold a Masonic service on Wednesday at 7:30 PM at the funeral home.

A memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 8:00 PM, with Rev. Gary Rankin officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Welfare Society, 33 Queen St, Cumberland, MD 21502.

Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, is in charge of arrangements.
