Pastor William Carr, 81, of Roosevelt St, Westernport, passed away Friday, November 25, 2016 at Moran Manor Nursing Center.

Born March 24, 1935 in Newton, NJ, he was the son of the late Henry and Phoebe (Heywood) Carr.

Pastor Carr received his Master of Divinity from Central Theological Seminary and his Doctorate of Theology from Andersonville Baptist Seminary.  He pastored in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland for over 50 years with his last charge at Grace Baptist Church, Cumberland.  He was presently Associate Pastor along with his son, Pastor Steffan Carr, at Bruce Outreach Center, Westernport.  Pastor Carr had a contagious laugh, a love of people and a real passion for reading and studying the Bible.  He had a special love for his wife, children and grandchildren.

He leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Lola (Bowman) Carr, two sons, Pastor Scott Carr Sr. and wife Wanda of Bridgeton, NJ, Pastor Steffan Carr and wife Leslie of Westernport, a daughter, Sharon Carr of Westernport, two brothers, Elmer Carr and wife Shirley of Blairston, NJ, and Henry “Chic” Carr and wife Alice of Newton, NJ.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Scott Carr Jr., Joanna Carr, Alisha Carr and Melody Carr.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Wednesday, November 30th from 5 to 8 PM.  A funeral service will be conducted at the Bruce Outreach Center, Philos Ave, Westernport, on Thursday December 1st at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Steffan Carr and Pastor Scott Carr Sr. officiating.  A visitation will also be held one hour prior to funeral service from 10 AM to 11 AM.

Interment will be in Mt. View Cemetery, Moscow Mills.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Bruce Outreach Center, Philos Ave, Westernport, MD.
