Norma Lee “Nooney” Kerling, 80, of Sutherland Hill Lane, Barton, went to be with her God and loving husband, Bill, Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.
Born June 11, 1931 in Barton, she was the daughter of the late Robert Warren and Ethel Pearl (Smith) Elliott. She was also preceded in death by her husband William T. Kerling, and three brothers, Allen, Warren, and Donald Elliott. She was the last survivor of her immediate family.
Mrs. Kerling was retired from the Allegany County Board of Education, having worked in the cafeteria of various schools, including Frost Elementary, and Georges Creek Elementary. She was a member of Christ Memorial Baptist Church, Westernport. Norma loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially rummy with her daughter, Nancy.
She leaves behind a son, William Thomas Kerling Jr. and wife Linda of Lonaconing, two daughters, Karen Hershberger and husband Ricky of Lonaconing, and Nancy Moore and husband Robert of Barton. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brian, Tommy, Jason, Jennifer, Janice, Amy and Samantha, and her great grandchildren, Dennis, Gavin, Matthew, Andrew, Katie, Colton, Angelique, Jimmy, and a special little girl, Brooke.
Friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be conducted at the Boal Chapel on Friday at 1:00 PM, with Bob Elliott officiating.
Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
