Norman “Buster” Layton Sr., 89, of Westernport died peacefully at his home on March 30, 2018.
Born September 11, 1928, he was the son of the late Ashby and Ada (Combs) Layton. He was also preceded in death by his wife, “Fritz” (Trenum) in 1988, a daughter, Norma in 2018, an infant son, Terry in 1965, his brother, Arthur Layton, his sisters, Betty Menefee and Helen Dove and a nephew, raised as his brother, Garland Layton.
Norm was raised in Limestone, Keyser. He was a US Army Veteran, having served during the Korean War. Norm was the owner and master plumber of L&M Plumbing and Heating for 55 years. He was a member of the Victory Post #155 and the Queens Point VFW. While attending high school, he was told by one of his teachers he would end up digging ditches. Years later, while working at the teacher’s home, Norm reminded him, “You always said I would end up digging ditches but you never knew I’d be charging you $50 an hour to do it.” Norm attended reunions with the Keyser High School class of 1946.
He is survived by his children, Sonja, “Jr.” and Peggy. He is also survived by his grandchildren, John, Jason, Tammy, Wayne, Carlie, Jacob, Theresa; and his great grandchildren, Madelayne and Emily Watt, Kirsten Boal, Seth, Leighton and Emrick Johnson, Kyndahl Shears and Kyree Boal.
Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Monday, April 2, 2018 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm.
