Norma Jean (Wilson) Knott, 83, of 409 Maryland Ave, Westernport, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2012, with her family at her side, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.
Born July 28, 1928 in Barton, she was the daughter of the late James and Pearl (Bray) Wilson. Her husband, Donald W. Knott, four brothers, Charles, Robert, Richard, and William Wilson, and two sisters, Margaret Boal and Katherine Dawson, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Knott was a homemaker. She was a member of Piedmont Presbyterian Church. She was also a co-founder of Tri-Towns Teen Town.
She leaves behind a son, Donald Knott JR and wife Paula of Ellicott City, three daughters, Sandra Corsaro and husband Frank of Coventry, CT, Jeannie Pritts and husband Fred of Westernport, Melva Shimer and husband Bill of Westernport, three sisters, Virginia Baughman of Towson, Ann Buettner of Perry Hall and Erma Lemon of Keyser, WV. She is also survived by four grandsons, Geoff Ord of Kennesaw, GA, Fred Pritts II and wife Blake of Fort Ashby, WV, James Pritts and wife Erin of Westernport, Matthew Shimer and wife Katrina of Cumberland, and three great grandchildren, Adison Pritts, Parker Pritts and Trey Shimer and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 10:00 AM, with Rev. William Shimer officiating.
Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
The family would like to extend thanks to Dr. Blanche Mavromatis, nurses and staff at the Schwab Family Cancer Center, and to the staff at Western Maryland Oncology Clinic, for the compassionate care given to Norma during her illness
