Norma Broadwater

Westernport, MD

Norma Jean Broadwater, 83 of Westernport passed away on December 17, 2020 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

Born on February 12, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Hilary and Rebecca (Biddle) McKenzie. She was also preceded in death by her son, Robert “Bob” Broadwater; granddaughter, Lisa Wade; grandson, Corey Broadwater; and siblings, Eugene McKenzie, Kathleen Humes, Donald McKenzie, Elmer “Cuke” McKenzie, and Paul McKenzie.

Norma was an active member of the St. James Episcopal Church in Westernport, where she was a member of the vestry and treasurer of the Woman’s Group. She organized the clothing giveaway at the church as well as the blood drives. Norma retired from Westvaco, where she worked in safety supply in addition to other departments in her career. She was a member of the Westernport American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the Queens Point VFW Auxiliary, where she held various leadership positions through the years.

Norma is survived by her husband, Delbert “Pete” Broadwater of Westernport; her children, Gary Broadwater and wife, Lisa of Piedmont, WV, Lois Wade and husband Dan of Swanton, Don Broadwater and wife, Glenda of Stephens City, VA, James “Bruno” Broadwater of Westernport and also daughter-in-law, Sue Broadwater of Westernport. Norma is also survived by her grandchildren, Erica Graham and husband Scott, Andrea Wade Koontz, Josh Broadwater and wife, Amy, Holly Broadwater-Varga and husband Brian, and Deanna Ludwick and husband, “B”; and her great grandchildren, Dalton, Jared and Evan Graham, Arianna, Lexi, and Mason Koontz, Cailyn and Ben Broadwater, and Alyvea Fields, Graci Crites, Will Ludwick and Julia Miller. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Dwight and Patty Broadwater of Cross, WV.

Family and friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Tuesday, December 22nd from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A funeral service will be held following the visitation at 1 p.m. with the Revs. Garrett Carskadon and John Martin officiating.

Interment will be at Philos Cemetery, Westernport.

In lieu of flowers, the family strongly encourages donations be made to the St. James Episcopal Church.
