Nelson Charles Ward, 92, of Savage River Road, Bloomington, formerly of Spring Lick Road, passed away Friday, April 24, 2015 at his residence.
Born at Savage River February 18, 1923, he was the son of the late Mert and Gerturde (Wilt) Ward.
Nelson was a United States Marine Corp. veteran, having served during World War II.
He was a retired construction worker, but also worked a farm and pulpwood. He was a member of Victory Post #155 American Legion, Westernport, and a life-time member of the former Lonaconing Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He leaves behind his wife, Clara (Shockey) Ward, and their children, Vickie Ward Wilt of Oakland, and Rick Nelson Ward and wife Cheryl of Aurora, WV, his former wife, Rollena (Duckworth) Lambert of Upper Tract, WV, and their children, John Earl Ward and wife “Nan” of Frostburg, and Peggy Ann Llewellyn of Upper Tract, WV. He is also survive by seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren with one on the way, and two great-great grandchildren.
At Nelson’s request, there will be no visitation.
A celebration of his life will be held on May 1st at the Pentecostal Holiness Church, Piedmont, WV at 4:00 PM.
Private interment services will held at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Rocky Gap.
Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, is in charge of arrangements.
