Mary Margaret Warnick, 88, formerly of Laurel Run Road, and most recently of Egle Nursing and Rehab Center, Lonaconing, passed away Thursday March 22, 2012 at the nursing center.

Born August 11, 1923 at Reynolds, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Blanche (Blizzard) Custer.  She was also preceded in death by her husband in 2007, Vernon William Warnick, a sister, Mamie Paugh and five brothers, Oliver, Robert, Ralph, Jakie, and Mikey Custer.

Mary married the true love of her life, Sgt. Maj.Vernon Warnick, on May 16, 1946 and traveled to many states and foreign countries during his military career.  She worked at the Celanese before getting married and again when the family settled in Laurel Run.  Mary was an avid bingo player and during her years of traveling with her husband she bowled and has many trophies that she was so proud of.

She was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Barton, a member of Court St. Gabriel’s Catholic Daughters, a member of Barton Rod and Gun Club Ladies Auxiliary, and a 46 year member of Barton American Legion#189 Ladies Auxiliary.

Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be greatly missed by her loving family, as she leaves behind two sons, Charles Warnick, Sr., of Barton, Robert Warnick and wife Jane of Silver Spring, two daughters, Diane Broadwater and husband Galen of Barton, Phyllis Winner and husband Gerry of LaVale, one brother, Pete Custer of Lonaconing and one sister, Shirley Trenum of Westernport.  She is also survived by five grandchildren, Michael Broadwater, Paula Healey, Dennis Ashby, Jr., Kristina Kok, and Charles “Billy” Warnick, Jr., four great grandchildren, Thomas Broadwater, Gracie Healey, Ty Healey, and Natalie Frances Ashby, and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.  The Barton Legion Ladies Auxiliary will hold a memorial service at the chapel on Monday at 7:00 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Barton, on Tuesday at 11:00 AM, with Father Richard Gray as celebrant.

Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Egle Nursing and Rehab Center Staff and Dr. Thomas Devlin for the loving care and compassion given our mother and to our families during her stay there.
