Martha Elizabeth Reed, 92, of North St, Bloomington, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.

Born June 26, 1921 in Westernport, she was the daughter of the late John L.S. Tranum and the late Mary Elizabeth (Pritts) Tranum.  She was also preceded in death by her husband William LeRoy Reed, and a son William Lee Reed.

Mrs. Reed was a member of Bloomington United Methodist Church.  She was the first West Virginia State Commander of Disabled American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of Kelly Mansfield #52 Ladies Auxiliary, Piedmont, WV.  In her earlier years she was a grey lady volunteer for army hospitals in Anchorage, Alaska and Fort Campbell, Kentucky.  She was formerly a Cub Scout den mother, and she and her husband helped spear head the opening of Tri-Towns Teen Town in Westernport.

She leaves behind two sons, Thomas A. Reed and wife Darla of Westernport, Timothy L. Reed of Bloomington, a daughter, Maxine Leasure and husband Russell of North Augusta, SC, seven grandchildren, Joe Leasure and wife Karen, Lori Riley and husband Fred, Carin Leasure and fiancé Dave London, Tommy Reed and fiancé Jen, Mandi Moreland and husband Greg, Timothy Lynn Reed Jr., and Andy Reed.  She is also survived by eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

At Martha’s request her body was cremated.  There will be no visitation and private family services will be held.

Interment will take place at a later date at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Rocky Gap.

Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, is in charge of arrangements.
