Martha Jean Marple

Martha Jean (Bever) Marple, 87, of Swanton passed away peacefully on October 27, 2024 at her daughter’s residence in Arkansas.  

Born June 14, 1937, she was the daughter of the late George and Edith (Fox) Bever. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Marple, Jr; and eleven siblings. 

Martha was a 1955 graduate of Bruce High School, where she was a teammate on the lady’s basketball team. She once worked at Westvaco, the garment factory in Deer Park, and Bausch and Lomb in Oakland. Martha was a very active member of the Piedmont Church of God. Martha’s greatest desire in life was the hope that her children and their families serve the Lord, as she did. 

Martha is survived by her children, Tammy Ward and husband Bill, Tim Marple and wife Lori, and Tom Marple and wife Linda. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Stacy Coco and husband Adam, Elizabeth Taylor and husband Tim, Seth Marple and partner Miranda, Joshua Ward and wife Haruka, and Rebekah Radford and husband Joshua; great grandchildren, Colton and Wyatt Taylor, Tegan Marple and Carmen Coco; brother, John Bever and wife Peggy; daughter-in-law, Patty Marple; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.  

Martha will be cremated and a graveside service will take place at a later date.
