Martha Kasmier

Martha Athey Kasmier, 61, of Pleasant Hill Road, Harpers Ferry, passed away Friday, December 2, 2016 at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA.

Born May 23, 1955 in Keyser, she was the daughter of Barbara (Rice) Athey of Keyser, and the late Fred Athey.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jesse R. Kasmier in 2010.

Martha was a 1973 graduate of Keyser High School.  She also attended Potomac State College.

Martha was a librarian for the Bolivar-Harpers Ferry Public Library.  She loved reading to children and all of the duties of a librarian.  Martha was Lutheran by faith.

In addition to her mother, Barbara Athey, she also leaves behind a son, J. Ross Kasmier and wife Dana of Charles Town, a daughter, Sarah Kasmier of Harpers Ferry, a granddaughter, Lilly Kasmier, a sister, Carol Worgan and husband James of Westernport, MD, a brother, Fred Athey Jr. of Keyser, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, MD, on Thursday, December 8th from 6 to 8 PM.  A funeral service with Holy Communion will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, December 9th at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Sally Bartling officiating.

Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
