WESTERNPORT - Martha Pearl Beavers, 77, of Westernport, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017. She passed away peacefully at home following an extended illness.

Born Feb. 2, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Pearl Ida (Brown) and Virgil Andrew Secrist.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law William and Jean Secrist of Keyser; brother and sister-in-law Andrew “Duke” and Geneva Secrist of Westernport; brother Virgil “Junior” Secrist of Aurora, West Virginia; and brother Melvin Secrist of Shallmar, Maryland.

Martha will be remembered as a strong but loving person whose pride and joy was her family.

Her home was her castle and she was known for keeping it in order and spotless - even as her five children were growing up. An avid collector of dolls, salt & pepper shakers, antiques, collectibles and just about anything that would catch her fancy, she took great pride in caring for her treasures.

She was also an avid bingo player, and loved going to yard sales and auctions to find things to add to her collections at home.

She had many close friends for whom she cooked and baked, and they thought of her as their second mom.

Christmas was always a very special time for her, and we know she is celebrating her first Christmas in Heaven now with her Lord.

Surviving are her devoted husband of 58 years, Garland R. Beavers of Westernport; her sons, Elwood Beavers of Cumberland, Allen Beavers and wife Sherry of Keyser, Terry Beavers and wife Donna of Keyser, and Richard Beavers and wife Elizabeth of Westernport; daughter Tamara Beavers of Cumberland; her grandson and special “buddy,” Aaron Beavers of Westernport; grandchildren Crystal and husband Dustin and their children Quynn and Dustin, Jessica and husband Jake and their children Jaianna and Khaleesi, Shari and husband Josh and daughter Kamryn, Elwood Beavers, Allen Beavers and girlfriend Michelle of Fairmont, West Virginia, and Aubrey Beavers of Keyser.

She is also survived by brothers and sisters, Wanda Secrist of Oakland, Maryland, Betty Kidwell and husband Tom of Martinsburg, Roger Secrist and wife Darlene of Petersburg, Wilma Jean Howdyshell and husband Paul of Shallmar, Maryland, Lilly Moats and husband Wayne of Crellin, Maryland; Kathy Elliott and husband Terry of Kitzmiller, Maryland, Mary Harvey and husband Ellis of Elk Garden, Linda Shillingburg of Terra Alta, West Virginia, and Kenny Secrist and wife Betty of Jane Lew, West Virginla; sisters-in-law Joann Secrist of Aurora, West Virginia, and Sharon Secrist of Shallmar, Maryland.

At Martha’s request, her body will be cremated.

Also at her request, there will be no visitation or services.

Boal Funeral Home of Westernport is assisting the family with arrangements.
