Margaret Ann (Frankland) Metcalfe, 77, of Westernport, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at her residence.

Born March 17, 1940, at Reeve’s clinic in Westernport, Maryland. She was the daughter of the late Clyde and Mabel (Lannon) Frankland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Jesse Metcalfe Jr.

Margie is survived by her immediate family, son Chris Metcalfe and daughter-in-law Karen of Swanton, and two grandchildren, who were the light of her life; Ashley Metcalfe and fiancé Matt Meyers of Bristow, Virginia and Hunter Metcalfe of Fairfax, Virginia. She is also survived by one great grandson Adley Miller who she adored; sister-in-law Elaine Smith of Parsons, West Virginia along with several nieces and nephews. Margie was also surrounded by an extended loving family, The Lee Family, who supported her through the years along with her many close friends. Margie is also survived by Russell Metcalfe III and his children Amy and Jesse Metcalfe of Finksburg, Maryland.

Margie enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting, and making her delicious fudge for all to enjoy. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Margie was a graduate of St. Peter’s Catholic School, class of 1957. Mrs. Metcalfe worked briefly at Murphy’s in Westernport prior to dedicating her life to raising her family and serving her church. Margie was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Westernport where she was very active. She served as a Eucharistic Minister, a Sacristan, greeter, and lovingly cared for the altar linens for many years. Margie served on the bereavement committee and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. In 2003, Margie was awarded The Medal of Honor by the Archdiocese of Baltimore for her Catholic values and service to her parish.

The family will receive friends at The Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Thursday, December 21, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Catholic Church on Friday, December 22, at 11 a.m. with Bishop Adam Parker as celebrant and Msgr. James Hannon as co-celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Hunter Metcalfe, Matt Meyers, Bobby Hutton, Bryan Hutton, Marcus McGinnis, and Matthew Davis. Honorary pallbearers are Adley Miller, Forrest Smith, Eric Smith, and Pat Lannon.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be directed to the bereavement committee at St. Peter’s Church Westernport or Tri-Towns Rescue Squad.
