Lois Fern Linkswiler, 97, of 200 Park Street, Westernport, MD, passed away December 18th at home with her daughter by her side.

Born September 28, 1918, at Firm Rock, she was the daughter of the late J. Elbert Michael and Lora E. (Broadwater) Michael.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland A. Linkswiler, on July 27, 1990 and two sisters, Helen Wilson and Esther Uhl.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont, WV, where she was also a member of the Aurora Derham Bible Class and the former Wesleyan Service Guild.  She was also a member of the Algonquin Chapter of Professional Secretaries International.  She was a graduate of Bruce High School and Catherman’s Business School, Cumberland, MD.

Mrs. Linkswiler retired from the former Mead-Westvaco Corporation, Luke, having been a secretary to several mill managers.

Surviving are one daughter, Lora A. Ellis, Westernport, MD, two granddaughters, Christina A. Ellis and partner Paul Kenny, Plymouth Meeting, PA and Diana M. Phifer and husband, Wade, of Royersford, PA, and one grandson, Jeffrey P. Ellis and partner Dana Zentgraf, Gaithersburg, MD, four great granddaughters, Ashlyn and Tara Phifer, and Addie and Evelyn Ellis.

The family wishes to thank Western Maryland Health Systems Hospice Services nurses, aides, and staff for their wonderful care.  We were blessed to have them in our lives.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Western Maryland Health Systems Hospice Services, Cumberland, MD or United Methodist Church, Piedmont, WV.

Friends will be received at the Boal’s Funeral Home, Westernport, MD from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22, and 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 23.  Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Steve Grimes officiating.  Interment will be at Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
