Lavada Bittinger

Lavada Catherine Bittinger, 94, formerly of Llewellyn Ave, Rawlings, and most recently of Egle Nursing and Rehab Center, Lonaconing, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.

Born October 15, 1918 in Garrett County, she was the daughter of the late Jonas and Edith Mae (Magruder) Broadwater.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry Bittinger, a daughter, Lois Bittinger, a grandson, Kenny Napier, a great grandson Casey Shockey, a daughter-in-law, Connie Bittinger, a son-in-law, Owen Napier, and several brothers and sisters.  She was the last survivor of her immediate family.

Mrs. Bittinger was a homemaker.  Her life was her family.  She was Baptist by faith.

She leaves behind three sons, Dayton Bittinger of Rawlings, Dallas Bittinger and wife Joyce of Savage River, Dwight Bittinger and wife Deborah of Midland, two daughters, Ruby Napier of Huntingtown, and Audrey Rizer and husband Neal of Savage River.  She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren.

Friends and family will be received on Saturday from 3 to 4 PM at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, where a funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 PM, with Rev. Harry Burchell officiating.

Interment will be in Reform Cemetery, New Germany at a later date.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to the Egle Nursing and Rehab Center for the care given to Lavada during her stay there.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Grace United Methodist Church, 19915 Church St, Midland, MD  21532.
