Kathleen A. “Kass” Laughlin, 89, of High St, Barton, MD passed away surrounded by her loving family and friends Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.
Born January 2, 1925 in Barton, she was the daughter of the late Harry E. and Anna (Shuhart) Bailey.  She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard D. Laughlin, and two sisters, Jean George and Betty Francis.
Kathleen was a 1942 graduate of Barton High School.  Her career was in the Foreign Service Department of the State Department in Washington, DC.  She was a longtime, faithful member of the Barton United Methodist Church having been involved in the Friendly Helpers Bible Class, and the United Methodist Women.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her loving companion, John (Jack) Ayers, her devoted daughter, Anne Laughlin-Love and husband, Dr. Robert Love of Virginia Beach, VA, adoring granddaughters, Beth Love Wright, and husband Clinton of Virginia Beach, VA, and Katherine (Kate) Love of Manhattan, New York, precious great-grandchildren, Allison Elizabeth and Cole Robert Wright.  She also is survived by her brother, Paul (Bud) Bailey of Hagerstown, MD.  Surviving nieces and nephews are Paula Bailey, John Bailey, James Francis, Nancy Francis, Keri Francis, Martin Laughlin, Sarah Ann Crawford, Danny Laughlin and friend and caregiver, Sherry Shaw.
Friends and family will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM.  A celebration of her life will be conducted at the Barton United Methodist Church on Wednesday at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Sandy Cowan and Rev. John Park officiating.
Private interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills, at a later date.
