Julia Codire, 99 formerly of Fairview Street, Piedmont, and most recently of Jones Street, Piedmont, passed away on May 28, 2020 at Potomac Valley Hospital.

Born January 6, 1921 in Piedmont, she was the daughter of the late Pantaleo and Maria (Garafoli) Mazzone. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William J. Codire; her sisters, Isabelle Cangianelli, Anna “Nina” Warnick and Mary Wilcox; and two brothers, Raphael Mazzone and Anthony “Tony” Mazzone.

Julia was a 1939 Bruce High School graduate where she recently celebrated her 80th class reunion. After graduating, Julia worked at the West Virginia Pulp and Paper Company as a lab technician until her retirement in October 1959. She was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church and the St. Anthony’s Guild for 62 years. Julia was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. She was passionate regarding her participation in special events and celebrations with her family and friends. Julia always looked forward to participating in annual functions with the Senior Olympics, Smith’s Halloween Party and other celebrations with her loved ones.

She leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She is also survived by very special friends, Curtis and Angela Smith who she considered family. Many thanks to all the nurses and doctors at Potomac Valley Hospital and Staff at Piney Valley Nursing Home.

Services and interment will be private.
