Joyce L. Jones - Joyce Louise Jones, 88, of 308 Poplar St., Westernport, died Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Autumn Care Nursing Home in Nashville, NC.

Born Dec. 24, 1923 in Westernport, she was the daughter of the late John B. and Eva (Tanner) McKenzie.  Preceding her in death are:  husband, Marshall D. Jones, Sr.; three sisters: Bernice Dent, Marguerite Footen, Hilda Friend; two brothers: Clifton McKenzie, Elton (Hoot) McKenzie.

Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and retired grocer, having been the owner-operator of Jones Market in Westernport for 45 years.  She was a member of First Baptist Church, Westernport where she served as treasurer for many years.

She leaves behind one son, Marshall D. Jones, Jr. and wife, Margaret of Elm City, NC; one brother, Wayne McKenzie and wife, Norma of Westernport; three grandchildren: Marshall D. Jones, III of Tampa, Fla., Sean Jones of Wilson, NC, Adam Kitchen and wife, Michelle of Wilson, NC; three step grandchildren: Kim Moore of Rocky Mount, NC, Kevin Lancaster and wife, Mandee of Greenville, NC, Kelly Boswell and husband, Blake of Rocky Mount, NC; nine great-grandchildren and a special niece, Dottie Davidson of Morgantown, W.Va.

The family will receive friends at Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Tuesday from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Funeral services will be conducted at Boal Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday at 1pm with the Rev. Earl Williams officiating.

Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to First Baptist Church, Westernport, MD.
