Josephine P. (Harr) McBee, 104, died on November 26, 2018 at Egle Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was the daughter of the late Warren and Katherine (Degler) Harr. She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. McBee and son-in-law, Robert F. Mitchell. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Josephine was born in Keyser, WV and moved to Westernport at the age of five where she spent most of her life. While at Bruce High School, she was very active in the school theatricals and she also played basketball. Graduating in 1932, she was a member of the committee that worked to publish a class yearbook 50 years after graduation. She very much enjoyed card games, bingo, scrabble, bowling and playing the organ and piano, which she played into her 80’s. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Westernport, where she was once a member of the choir. She was also a member of Victory Post #155 American Legion Auxiliary, where she once served as the President for two years. She was a member of the Westernport Senior Citizen’s Club, where she was the chaplain for two years.

Surviving are her four daughters, Mary Jo (Thomas) Suter of Street, MD and Burlington, WV, Margaret Ann (Joseph) Stremel of Denver, CO, Katherine Mitchell of Westernport and Elizabeth (Albert) Coviello formerly of Mt. Lake Park and now Winston-Salem, NC. Mrs. McBee had 12 grandchildren, Robert (Cynthia) Suter, Sharon Kaercher, Laurie Suter, Joseph, Michael and Jennifer Stremel, Robert Mitchell, Jr., Ann Caren, Josephine (Charles) Graham, Christian Coviello (Marina Puglisi), Eliza Coviello and Francesca (Michael) Jewell. Josephine also had 9 great grandchildren whom she loved very much, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, her special friend and caregiver for many years, Janie Macdonald and her most recent caregivers, Carrie Cadwallader and Edna Clark.

Family and friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Friday, November 30th from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Divine Mercy Parish, St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Westernport on Saturday, December 1st at 11:00am with Father Edward Hendricks officiating.

Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Divine Mercy Parish-St. Peter’s Catholic Church, the Tri-Towns EMS, or the Potomac Fire Co.
