Joann Guy, 88, of Westernport passed away on July 17, 2016 at her residence.
Born on May 29, 1928, she was the daughter of the late William Siever and Ola (Haines) Walsh. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Guy, a son, Dana Guy, a daughter Linda Ellifritz and a sister, Aretta “Rita” Blamer.
Joann was a graduate of Piedmont High School. She was a seamstress for many people in the area, including her own family. She would sew wedding gowns, team uniforms for Bruce High School and also the Victory Post 155 Blue Angel’s uniforms. She once worked for the Style Shop in Piedmont, WV. Joann was an avid Bingo player at High Rock, sponsored by St. Peter’s Church. She thoroughly enjoyed watching her son-in-law, Bob Gordon, race dirt late models at Roaring Knob Speedway.
Joann is survived by her children; Steven Guy of Bloomington, Patricia Mazzone and husband Leo of Westernport, Debra Gordon and husband Bob of Keyser, WV, Mark Guy of Westernport and Nancy Marts and husband Rick of Westernport. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
At her request, private family services will be held.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Western Maryland Hospice, Winchester Medical Center, and Egle Nursing Home, for their continued care and comfort.
