Jerry Jones

Jerry Lee (Kelley) Jones, of Westernport, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.

Born April 3, 1933 in Westernport, she was the daughter of the late John Franklin and Ruth (Clark) Kelley, granddaughter of the late Elizabeth “Sis” Wilson Kelley and Florence Ternent Foster.  She was also preceded in death by her husband whom she married February 22, 1952, William F. “Pickle” Jones.

Jerry was a 1951 graduate of Bruce High School.  She worked at Kelly Springfield Tire Co. from 1951 to 1954.  She was then employed at Upper Potomac Television Co., Piedmont, WV, and then with the company that purchased U.P.T.V. and retired after 39 years from Tele-Media Cable Co.

Jerry was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont, WV, where she was active with the Monday morning Craft Group, the Westernport Senior Citizens, the Westernport Heritage Society, a member of AARP, and a former member of the El Fidel Club.

She leaves behind a son, John Dana Jones, a daughter-in-law, Sara Cook Jones, a granddaughter, Elizabeth Jones Sessa and husband Matt, a grandson, John Dana Jones Jr., a great grandson, Jackson Sessa, a great granddaughter, Caroline Sessa, and a sister, Mary Jon Kelley Warnick.  She is also survived by special nephews and nieces Stephanie Warnick, Stephen Warnick and Craig Warnick, a brother-in-law, Pat Jones and many other special nieces and nephews of the Jones family, and many loving friends and neighbors.

The family would like to extend thanks to the neighbors and friends that have been Jerry’s extended family and caregivers, and to the staff at Frostburg Village Nursing Center, and the staff and doctors at Western Maryland Health System for the compassionate care given to her during her stays there.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Friday, June 12th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM.  A funeral service will be conducted at Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont, WV, on Saturday, June 13th at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Steve Grimes officiating.

Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
