James “Jim” Franklin Simmons, 83, of 314 Philos Ave, Westernport, passed away Friday November 4, 2011 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.
Born February 1, 1928 in Westernport, he was the son of the late Henry Thomas and Nannie Naomi (Harrison) Simmons. His wife, Betty (Whisner) Simmons, also preceded him in death.
Jim was a United States Army Veteran, having served in the Korean War. He retired from Westvaco Paper Mill, Luke, and was a member of Victory Post #155 American Legion, Westernport.
He leaves behind his sisters, Evelyn Irene Snyder of Cumberland and Virginia Youngs of Carlisle, PA, his brothers, Raymond Simmons and wife Shirley of Cumberland, formerly of Westernport and Gerald Simmons and wife Barbara of Cresaptown. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Sunday from 1 PM to 4 PM. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Monday at 1:00 PM.
Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
