James Howard Warren Christenopher, 82, born in Terra Alta, WV on August 1, 1932 and now residing in Danville, joined his loved ones in Heaven on January 11, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother Bertha Smith, his step-father, Harley Smith, his son Eddie James Christenopher, his grandson Chris Aaron Christenopher and his son-in-law Jerry “Pete” Shillingburg.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Doris (Tichnell) Christenopher, Danville. His son Rick Christenopher and wife Becki, Swanton and his daughters, Lois Custer and son-in-law Glen Custer, Swanton, Susie Kim Martin and husband Tim, Westernport, and Jan Shillinburg, Rawlings. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sherri Christenopher, Mike Custer and wife Heather, Amy Custer, Brandon Custer Ashley Keckley and husband Steven, Tiffany Griffen and husband Eric; his great grandchildren, Kaytlin, Cody, Chance, Landon, Gracie, Christian, Tyler, Lukas and Rachel. Jim is also survived by his sisters, JoAn “Frankie” Duckworth and husband William “Buck”, Frances Moorehead and husband Jim; his brothers, Robert L. Smith and Ronald Smith and wife Mary, all of Bloomington. Jim will be missed by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends, including Dawna Hartman and Richard Waldemarson.
Jim was a former Deputy Sherriff for Allegany County. He was a truck driver for the Cumberland Brewery and was also a bus driver. Jim loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed many hobbies including horseback riding, snowmobiling, camping, hunting, fishing, traveling, playing cards, working puzzles and hanging out at Dale’s Pit Stop. He had a special place in his heart for his pets, which he really enjoyed.
Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Wednesday, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00 am with Pastor Sherri Ziler officiating.
Interment will be in Tichnell Cemetery at Chestnut Grove, Swanton.
Pallbearers will be Glen Custer, Mike Custer, Heather Custer, Tim Martin, Steven Keckley, Ashley Keckley, Jeff Beaver and Brett Armentrout.
