Harold Livingston Tichnell, 84, of 127 ½ East Hampshire ST, Piedmont, passed away Sunday March 11, 2012 at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.

Born November 26, 1927 at Chestnut Grove, MD, he was the son of the late Abner K. and Iva (Paugh) Tichnell.  His wife in 2004, Barbara (Albright) Tichnell, and a brother, Austin Tichnell, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Tichnell was a United States Air Force Veteran, having served during World War II.  He retired from Westvaco Corp, having worked in the finishing room.  He was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont, where he was a very active volunteer helping with soup sales and various other projects.  He was also a member of the Hickersons Mens Bible Class, and a member of the Folley Run Hunting Club.

He leaves behind a son, David H. Tichnell and wife Melissa of Keyser, two daughters, Linda L. Butler and husband Charles JR of Piedmont, Diana L. Wahl and husband Irvin E. of Fort Rucker, AL, four brothers, Gilbert Tichnell of Keyser, Abner Daryl Tichnell of Chestnut Grove, MD, Donnie Tichnell of Chestnut Grove, MD, Robert Tichnell of Backbone Mountain, MD, two sisters, Hilda Claycomb of Chestnut Grove, MD and Doris Christenopher of Rawlings, MD.  He is also survived by four grandchildren, Charles “Chad” Butler and companion Whitney Zais, Kristin Butler and companion Matthew Snyder, Michael Wahl, Elianna Wahl and one grandchild due in September, and two great grandchildren, Griffin and Keagan Butler.  A special friend, Irvin J. Wahl, and a special caregiver, Cassandra Bechdel, also survive him.

The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, MD, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.  A funeral service will be conducted at Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont on Thursday at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Bart Thompson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Trinity United Methodist Church Kitchen Fund, or Tri-Towns Fire Company #1, or Tri-Towns EMS.

Interment will be in Tichnell Cemetery, Chestnut Grove, MD.
