Glen Conway Riggleman, 99, of Donna St., Westernport, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.
Born May 20, 1913 in Petersburg, WV, he was the son of the late Roy and Mary (Simmons) Riggleman. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruby (Wolfe) Riggleman, three sisters, Ruth Haire, Nellie Weatherholtz, and Blanche Crites, and three brothers, Forest “Hobie”, Calvin, and Elvin Riggleman.
Mr. Riggleman was a United States Army Veteran, having served in the CBI Theater during World War II. He began working at the age of 14 and worked until he was 91 years of age for a total of 77 years, along with his service to his country. He was employed at Moran Coal Company, Westernport, for many years, and eventually finished his working days at Quality Supplier, Keyser, WV. He also spent time with CCC’s building the Savage River Dam. He was a member of Victory Post # 155 American Legion.
He leaves behind two sons, Gary Riggleman of Westernport, Kevin Riggleman and wife Ruth of Wilmington, NC, a daughter, Beverly Riggleman of Cumberland, one brother, Roy Riggleman Jr. of Petersburg, WV, four sisters, Dixie Mauzy and husband Marvin of Winchester, VA, Irene Iman of Petersburg, WV, Vista Eskridge of Norfolk, VA, and Mary Ellen Mauzy of Petersburg, WV.
Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Thursday, December 27th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Friday, December 28th at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Garrett Carskadon officiating.
Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Rocky Gap, where military honors will be accorded by Post 13 Veteran Honor Guard.
