Gilbert Tichnell, Sr.

Gilbert G. Tichnell, Sr., 97 passed away on December 29, 2022.

Born December 13, 1925 at Chestnut Grove, MD, he was the son of the late Kelly and Iva (Paugh) Tichnell. He was preceded in death by his son Gilbert “Jerry” Tichnell, Jr.; brothers, Austin Tichnell, Harold Tichnell and Daryl Tichnell.

Gilbert served two years and eleven months in the United States Navy. He worked at West Virginia Pulp and Paper Mill for 44 years. He was a member of the Victory Post 155 American Legion, Westernport, Post 52 Piedmont, and Queens Point VFW 6675, McCoole.

Gilbert is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Bernice Tichnell; sisters, Hilda Claycomb, Doris Christenopher; brothers, Donnie Tichnell, Robert Tichnell; special nephew, Tim Martin and his wife, Kim; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Monday, January 2nd from 4 to 7 p.m.

A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 3rd at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Rick High officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be at Tichnell Cemetery, Swanton.
