Gilbert Moffatt, 95, of Rockville St, Lonaconing, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Frostburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Frostburg.
Born February 6, 1921 in Lonaconing, he was the son of the late James and Jean (Mitchell) Moffatt. He was also preceded in death by his wife in 1993, Evelyn J. (Lee) Moffatt, and a sister, Gladys Kirk.
Mr. Moffatt was graduate of Central High School, Lonaconing, and a United States Army Veteran, having served during World War II. He retired from Potomac Edison Power Company, having been a meter reader. Gilbert attended Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church, Lonaconing, and was a member of Barton American Legion #189. He never met a stranger and was very well liked by all.
He leaves behind four daughters, Karina Moffatt and fiancée’ Edward Carder of Lonaconing, Gilberta Drew and husband Ernest of Gilmore, Mary Martha Moyer and husband Paul of Midland, and JoAnn Everett of Gilmore. He is also survived by two sisters, Wilma Symons of Lonaconing, Mary Langham of Barton, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and his special pet, Toby Lee.
Friends and family will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Wednesday, December 21st from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A funeral service will be conducted at the Boal Chapel on Thursday, December 22nd at 1:00 PM, with Rev. George Loar and Rev. Charles Winebrenner officiating.
Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
