George Richard Reeves, 80, formerly of Lee Road, Swanton, and most recently of Walnut St., Westernport, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.
Born September 9, 1933 in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Virginia (Reeves) Jones and step-father, Eddie Jones. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Alice (Fickes) Reeves.
George was the head dam-tender at the Savage River Dam for many years and was friends with the hunters and fisherman who frequented the area. George was always there to lend a helping hand to his friends and family and was a faithful visitor to those at Moran Manor and shut-ins. He was a life long member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Westernport.
He leaves behind his wife of fourteen years, Roberta Kady Reeves, a daughter, Debbie Reeves of San Antonio, TX, an aunt, Bernice Tennant, a brother-in-law, Joseph Fickes and wife Norma Jean; cousins, Dick Reeves and Jim Reeves. He is also survived by his step children, Krista (Kady) Montgomery and husband Rick, Tammie (Kady) Smith and husband Bob, Tim Kady and wife Tammy, and Mark Kady; five step grandchildren, Mike Gurtler and Deana George, Sarina (Smith) Long and Robert Littleton, Bobby Smith, Nikki Montgomery and Jordon Montgomery; three step great grandchildren who brought him great joy, Tristyn Long, Emily Gurtler and Willow Littleton, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Monday from 6 to 9 PM. A funeral service will be conducted at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church on Tuesday at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Sally Bartling officiating.
Friends will be received one hour prior to service at the church on Tuesday.
