Francis M. “Frank” Welsh, 81 of New Creek passed away on January 9, 2020.
Born January 26, 1938 in Westernport to the late Carl Vernon and Thelma (Matthews) Welsh. He is also preceded in death by three brothers, Karl, Vincent and Bill Welsh and one sister, Susan Moler. Frank was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Frank was a 1956 graduate of Bruce High School, Westernport, MD. He attended Frostburg State College, Allegany County Community College and graduated from Potomac College with an Associate’s Degree in Industrial Management in 1981. He retired from Westvaco as Quality Assurance Supervisor with over 43 years of service.
Frank is a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Keyser. He is a Past President of the Tri-Towns Lions Club. He served on the Board of Directors of the Wepco Federal Credit Union and as a Security Office for several years. Frank was a member of the Hiram Lodge 103 A.F. & A.M., Westernport, MD, the Ali Ghan Shrine, Cumberland, MD, and a member of the Jester’s court 117, Cumberland, MD. He also served at the Past President of the Ali Ghan Shrine Motor Corps.
Frank is survived by his wife of 60 years, Florence Tinsley Welsh, New Creek; and his two daughters, Kimberly Suter, Keyser and Stacey Miller and fiancé, Jack Johns, Short Gap. He is also survived by a granddaughter, Desiree’ Suter and boyfriend, Gabe Jones; two grandsons, Eli Suter and Justin Miller; one great grandson, Ocean Suarez of Denver, CO; and his sister-in-law, Lois Cook Welsh of Perry Hall, MD.
Per Mr. Welsh’s request, his body was donated to the Anatomy Gifts Registry and will be cremated.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Sunday, January 12th, 2020 from 2 to 3 p.m. A memorial service will follow the gathering at 3:00 p.m., beginning with a service by the Hiram Lodge and the Ali Ghan Motor Corps. The service will be officiated by Pastor Scott Llewellyn.
The family would like to send a special thanks to Dr. Charles Bess and Dr. Blanch Mavromatis for all the care Frank received and also extend our thanks to the wonderful nurses at the Schwab Cancer Center at WMHS. Especially to Becky and Tina who kept him laughing.
