Frances “Nelda” Ferguson, 89, formerly of Oakview Drive, Westernport, passed away Wednesday July 4, 2012 at Egle Nursing and Rehab Center, Lonaconing, where she had been a resident.
Born August 8, 1922 in Westernport, she was the daughter of the late George and Katherine (Sullivan) Fisher. Her husband, Gerald Ferguson, also preceded her in death.
“Nelda” was very active in the community. She was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church, Westernport, a member of Victory Unit #155 Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of Queens Point V.F.W. #6775 Ladies Auxiliary. “Nelda” was a person who never wanted to sit long in one place. She was also a volunteer for the American Red Cross bloodmobile.
She leaves behind a daughter, Betty Beavers and husband Harold of Westernport, a son, Gerald “Jerry” Ferguson and wife LouAnn of Loudon, TN, four grandchildren, Amy Riggleman, Kelly Harvey, Harold E. Beavers, Katie Porter, seven great grandchildren, Brittany Beavers, Courtney and Lyza Riggleman, Kimberly, Kayla and Willie Harvey, and Rachel Porter, one great-great grandchild, Bailey Brashear, and nieces, Martha McConnell and Phyllis Deniker, and a nephew, Teddy Henry.
Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Friday from 6 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peters Catholic Church, Westernport, on Saturday at 11:00 AM, with Father Ed Hendricks as celebrant.
Interment will be Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
