Frances Mitter

Westernport, MD

Frances L. Mitter, 93, formerly of Westernport and Luke, and most recently of Tranquility of Fredericktowne Assisted Living, passed away Friday, September 29, 2017.

Born September 29, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Virgil and Dorothy (Clayton) Barr.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. “Coon” Mitter.

Frances was a graduate of Bruce High School.  She was a homemaker and was a well-known Avon Sales Representative for many years.  Frances grew up in Luke, MD, where she also married and raised her family.  After her husband’s death, she lived on Maryland Avenue in Westernport for 17 years, moving to Potomac, MD in 2009.  She was an active member of First Assembly of God Church, Westernport, while living in the Tri-Towns.

She leaves behind a daughter, Vickie Bierman, a son, Tim Mitter, a granddaughter, Jennifer Marsh Gira, a great granddaughter, Lily Grace Gira, two sisters, Judy Moorehead and Beverly Clem and a brother, James Barr.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Monday, October 2, 2017 from 11 AM to 1 PM.  A funeral service will be conducted immediately following the visitation on Monday at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Gary Clem officiating.

Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, WV.
