Edith Bland

Edith Franka Bland, 74, of Warm Breeze Lane, Rawlings, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Western Maryland Health Systems Respite, Cumberland.

Born June 26, 1939 in Logan, OH, she was the daughter of the late Orla and Virginia (Hunter) Fickel.  She was also preceded in death by her husband on September 12th, LeRoy Richard Bland, and a brother, Ronnie Fickel.

Mrs. Bland formerly worked at G.C. Murphy.  She was an avid crafter, enjoyed sewing and crocheting, and loved gardening and tending to her flowers during her later years.

She leaves behind two daughters, Brenda Bland of Keyser, WV, and Elizabeth Patterson and husband Ronnie of Keyser, WV.  She is also survived by a brother, Donald Fickel of New York, a sister, Thoma Wells of Logan, OH, and three grandchildren, Jimmy Allen, Katrina Allen and Tori Patterson.

As per Mrs. Bland’s wishes, her body was cremated.

There will be no visitation.

A graveside memorial service will be conducted at Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, WV, on Monday, September 23rd at 11:00 AM.

Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, MD, is in charge of arrangements.
