Donald Thomas Smith, 90 of Westernport passed away on February 4, 2025.
Born October 6, 1934, he was the son of the late Donald A. Smith and Anna V. (Poland) Smith. He was also preceded in death by his son, Timmy Smith.
Tom was a 1952 graduate of Bruce High School. He was a United States Air Force Veteran. He once worked for Potomac Edison as an electrician and then worked and retired from Westvaco as an electrician.
Tom was the Mayor of Westernport for ten years. He enjoyed all things trains and loved the Christmas holiday season and buying for everyone. In his younger years, he and his wife enjoyed traveling across the country and camping at all of the national parks in the United States. Tom took pride in his yard when he was able and he enjoyed watching the deer and other animals that would visit the yard.
Tom is survived by his wife, Betty (Carder) Smith; and his son, Steve Smith and wife Doreen. He is also survived by his sisters, Kay Hutton and Nancy Boggs; his grandchildren, Amy Smith, Stephanie Shroyer and husband Travis, Alisa Vega and husband Alfredo, Joanna Ranhart and husband Jackson, and Jonathan Lamp and wife Melissa. Tom is survived by great grandchildren, Emma Shroyer, Elsie Ranhart, Francesa Vega, Matilda Vega, JJ Vega, Vala Vega, Miguella Vega, and Analina Vega; numerous nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Eddie Carder and friend Sandy and Russell Carder and wife Dottie. He is also survived by his special friends that he enjoyed coffee with on Tuesday mornings at Burger King.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Friday, February 7th from 4 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, February 8th at 1:00 p.m.
Interment will be at Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
