Swanton, Maryland

Daniel F. "Slim" Bever, 63, of Swanton, passed away on September 2, 2024.

Born Feb. 28, 1961, he was the son of the late James and Joanna "Ginny" (Rebar) Bever. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Lucinda Suite.

Danny worked at the paper mill in Luke. He was a member of the Crossroads Church at Deep Creek Lake. He proudly served the community as  a volunteer at both the Luke Volunteer Fire Company and the Bloomington Fire Company. He was a past member of the Tri-Towns EMS, as well as a past member of the Potomac Fire Company. Danny held a membership at the Folley Run Sportsman Club and the Potomac Highlands 507M Club. He took pride in being the Bloomington Cemetery caretaker.

Danny was a lover of the outdoors, he found joy in camping, hunting, fishing, mushroom and ramp hunting, and taking side by side rides through scenic landscapes. Many summers were spent at Deep Creek Lake enjoying boat rides with family and friends. Danny had a love for adventure and travel. Whether it was sipping umbrella drinks on a beach or enjoying nature's wonders, Danny found happiness in life's simple pleasures. A true connoisseur of ice cream, he just had to have it. He loved all of his dogs, his best girl Sadie and best buddy Nelson had a special place in his heart. Danny's favorite sport was whichever sport his grandkids were playing. Many days and evenings were spent at a field, in a gym or on the bleachers supporting his grandkids.

His selfless nature and ability to engage with everyone around him made him a cherished friend. Danny never met a stranger and was a friend who was always there to lend a helping hand. He was a devoted husband, dad, Pap and friend to many. His kind spirit will be profoundly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Bever; his children, Shari Bever and Travis Moran, Krissy Dowden and husband Jon, and Maranda Mowbray and fiancé Allan Foss. Danny's whole world were his grandchildren, Caleb Cornwell, Blake Rhodes and Katelyn Corwell, Chandler Rhodes, Braden Rhodes and wife Victoria, Baylee Mowbray, McKayla Forney, Remington Mowbray, Easton Dowden, Jamesson Dowden, Flynn Forney, Jensen Dowden and Emerson "Batman" Dowden.
