Claretta (Arthur) Dye, formerly of Barton passed away at Egle Nursing Home on September 11, 2012.
Born May 18, 1919, Clara was the daughter of the late Russell Samuel Arthur and Janie (Schaffer) Arthur. She is preceded in death by her husband Cecil Dye. In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by five sisters, Radie Arthur, Inez Ford, Freda Steininger, Lucille Coop, Reba McDowell and one brother, Holly Arthur.
Clara is survived by; two daughters, Wilma Moon and husband Jeff of Lisbon Falls, Maine and Rita Jeffries and husband Carl of Frostburg; a step-son William Dye and wife Sue of Barton; a brother Carl Arthur and wife Edna, Franklin; a sister Juanita Wilson and husband Melvin, Franklin; her best friend and caretaker Peggy Connor, Barton; 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Claretta worked as a crossing guard for the city of Cumberland before going to work for the Celanese Corp. where she was employed until in closed. Clara and her husband Cecil ran the Gunter Hotel in Frostburg for several years until their retirement. Clara was a member of the Barton Fireman Ladies Auxiliary. Before entering Egle Nursing Home, Clara was a member and attended Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church in Lonaconing.
Clara’s home away from home for the last five years has been Egle Nursing Home, Lonaconing, where she was treated with respect as a friend, not just a resident. The nursing home staff is the best; they care and go above and beyond to provide the best care to the residents and their families. They are like guardian angels to the residents. Thank you all for taking such good care of Clara and keeping her comfortable and happy for the past five years, especially in the last few weeks. Clara loved all of you in her own special way.
Friends and family will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton on Friday, September 14th from 12 to 2 PM. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 2:00 PM.
Interment will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
