Charles A. "Butch" Smith, Jr.

Charles A. “Butch” Smith, Jr., 71 of Westernport passed away on February 18, 2025 at UPMC Western Maryland. 

Born September 28, 1953 at Keyser, WV, he was the son of the late Charles A. Smith, Sr. and Betty (Marple) Smith. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, David Wayne, Lester “Jimmy”, and Richard “Pug”.

Butch was a graduate of Bruce High School. He worked and retired from New Page. Butch loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed shooting pool and was a part of a local pool league. Butch was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Boston Red Sox. 

Butch is survived by his wife, Darlene (Winebrenner) Smith; his children, Joshua Smith and Sami of Westernport, Justin Smith of Westernport, and Jodi (Smith) Fazenbaker of Frostburg. Butch is also survived by his grandchildren that he loved spending time with, Elexus “Lexi” Simpson, Austin Simpson, Emmit Fazenbaker, Elly Fazenbaker, Brady Smith and Gavin Smith; and his brother, Gary “Bunky” Smith of Keyser. 

Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Saturday, February 22nd from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Scott Llewellyn officiating. At the request of the family please feel free to dress casual, Butch was known for dressing casual and comfortable in his Converse shoes. 

Interment will be at Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the First Baptist Church of Westernport.
