Charles Ray Ross, 78 of Barton went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 4, 2021.
Born May 28, 1942 in Vindex, he was the son of the late Edward Jacob and Fannie Gladys (Puffenbarger) Ross. He is also preceded in death by his siblings, Edith Lease, Mary Jane Wahl, Arnold Ross, Frank Ross, Kenny Ross, Ted Ross, Bobby Ross, Charlotte Ross and Peggy Ross.
Charles proudly attended Mt. Lake Independent Baptist Church in Mt. Lake Park. He loved his family and church family. He loved Jesus and telling people about him. Charles retired from the United States Marine Corps.
In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, long walks, his Baltimore Orioles, road trips and any time spent with family and friends. He loved to help people, whether it was mowing grass or simply visiting with others. He always had a smile on his face and when asked what he knew, he would always reply, “The Lord is good to me.”
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Sharon Ross; his three children, Matthew Ross (Toni) of Barton, Elizabeth Metz ( Keith) of Barton, and Mark Ross (Steven) of Alexandria, VA; and his three grandchildren, Tim Ross, Jordan Ross and Trevor Metz. He is also survived by his siblings, Linda Shillingburg of Keyser, Sam Ross and wife, Elsa of VA, Helen Eisenhower of OH, Bill Ross and wife Sharon of OH and Edward Ross and wife Eva of PA.
Family and friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton on Monday. February 8th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Dennis Leatherman officiating.
A private interment will be at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap, Flintstone.
The Ross family would like to thank UPMC Western Maryland Hospice and the VA Home Healthcare, especially Judy and Misty for the excellent care they provided to Charles.
