Charles Floyd Chappell

Barton, Maryland

Charles Floyd “Charlie” Chappell, 73, of Barton, went to be with the Lord on July 19, 2024. 

Born November 15, 1950 in Frostburg, MD, Charlie was the son of James E. and Evelyn (Russell) Chappell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Martha Clise, Evelyn “Jean” McElvie, Shirley Clark, Gilberta “Bertie” Bradley; and one brother, James Chappell.

Surviving Charlie is his sister, Betty Garey; sister-in-law, Marion Chappell; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. 

Charlie graduated from Valley High School class of 1968 and the Catherman’s Business School. He retired from KJ Williams Concrete after 42 years of service.

Charlie had a passion for painting and solving problems. He was always able to provide the solution to any problem. One of his favorite pastimes was watching the many birds that frequented his home. Charlie often entertained others with his impersonations and jokes. He also found much joy in researching genealogy. 

Friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Wednesday, July 24th from 4 to 6 p.m. 

A funeral service will follow the visitation at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Sandy Cowan officiating.
