Cecil J. “Jim” Moore, 81 of Barton passed away peacefully with his brother Bob at his side on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 while at Sterling Rehab Center in Frostburg.
Born August 17, 1943 at home, he was the son of the late Cecil and Thelma (James) Moore. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his step mother, Lyda Mae Moore; step brother, James E. Butts; and a very special niece, Susan “Susie” (Filer) Moy.
Jim was a United States Army Infantry Vietnam Veteran. He served in the Army from 1969 to 1970. While proudly serving his country he was awarded the Bronze Star, V for Valor, the Purple Heart, and was recognized for numerous other accolades.
After coming home from the service he worked at the Queen City Dairy, the Strohman Bakery for ten years, and he retired as an inspector for the Maryland State Highway after 19 years. Jim was hard working and enjoyed spending time outdoors. He loved his family and enjoyed watching his nieces and nephews growing up and being a part of their lives.
Jim is survived by his sister, Jean (Charles) Filer, Robert “Bob” (Bonnie) Moore, Vicki (Teddy) Abucevicz; and step sister, Dolores (Ronald) Harvey. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton on Saturday, December 14th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:00 p.m.
Interment will be at Mt. View Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
Jim’s family would like to extend of heartfelt thank you to the Physical Therapy team and all of the wonderful nurses and aides at Sterling Care for taking such excellent care of Jim.
