Catherine "Siddy" Bailey

Catherine “Siddy” Vivian Kelley Bailey, 96, of Barton, passed away on December 3, 2021 at Egle Nursing and Rehab.  She had a good and long life and produced a wonderful family – in all respects a life well-lived.

Born August 18, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Bessie (Boal) Kelley.  She was also preceded in death by her guiding light and husband, Edward R. Bailey; brother, Robert Kelley, Jr.; and sisters, Bessie Gentry and Sarah (Kie) Staup.

Siddy is survived by her children, Dr. Edward Bailey and wife, Judy, of Bluffton, South Carolina; Robert Bailey and wife, Elaine, of Barton, Maryland and Jeannie Rossi and husband, Roger, of Marshall, Virginia.  She is survived by, Carol (Cobey) Kyle of Frostburg, Maryland, devoted sister, care-giver and true friend.  Cobey walked with her throughout the last days of her life, sharing joy and memories.

Siddy is loved and remembered by her grandchildren:  Chris and Tammy Bailey of Tucson, Arizona, Mark and Joan Durbin of Sandy Springs, Georgia, Michael (deceased) and Claire Durbin of Jefferson, Georgia; Julie and Sid Turner of Lonaconing, Maryland, Kris Bailey and Matt Kenney, Beth and Casey Love and Laurie and Dennis Loar all of Frostburg, Maryland; Angie and Chris Gray, of Warrenton, Virginia, Jack and Rhea Rossi, Joe and Chamroeun Rossi all of Springfield, Virginia.

Siddy’s cherished great-grandchildren include:  Joshua and Drew Bailey of Tucson, Arizona, Hazel and Sam Durbin, of Sandy Springs, Georgia, Johnathan, Daniel and Veronica Durbin of Jefferson, Georgia; Joselyn Turner of Lonaconing, Maryland; Jillian Sudine of Cumberland, Maryland and Kate Sudine of Westernport, Maryland; Maclain High; Dakota and Caroline Loar all of Frostburg, Marlyand; Tony Rossi and fiancée Keri Rager of Catlett, Virginia, Tyler Gray and Victoria Gray of Warrenton, Virginia; Hailey Rossi and Logan Rossi and Bradley Rossi all of Springfield, Virginia.

Grandma Bailey loved storytelling and enjoyed sharing the history of Barton during The Great Depression.  She shared old games from her childhood as well as nuggets of wisdom. She lovingly crocheted “Africans” (afghans) for everyone and their babies.  She also tailored and designed one-of-a-kind fashion for her friends and family!  She was a talented seamstress.

Friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Tuesday, December 7 ^th from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm.  A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 8 ^th at 11 am with Pastor Thomas Morgan officiating.

Special thanks to son-in-law Roger Rossi, formerly of the Army Blues, for honoring Mother with a graveside hymn selection.

Pallbearers will be Jack Rossi, Joe Rossi, Mac High, Charlie Kyle, Ernie Kyle and Mark Gentry.

Interment will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
