Brian Bean of Barton, MD passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. 

Brian was the youngest son of John F. Bean Sr. and Alice (Kenney) Bean, born on December 10, 1967. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sam and Carrie (Moffatt) Bean and Ignatius and Alice (Doolan) Kenney; nephew, Chris Wigington; father and mother-in-law, Melvin M. and Evelyn (Paugh) Preston; brothers-in-law, James Lepley, Toby Preston, Ronald Lee Preston and Mouse Thomas; sister-in-law, Linda Preston 

Brian was a Class of 1985 graduate of Valley High School where he was active on the football and wrestling teams. He was Catholic by faith and a member of The Devine Mercy parish – St. Gabriel’s. Brian was associated with the Knights of Columbus – Piedmont Chapter. He was one of the beginning members to organize the Sons of The American Legion branch through Barton American Legion Post #189. Brian was employed with the Allegany County Board of Education at Mountain Ridge High School – maintenance department. He previously worked 26 plus years at Mountain City Cabinets, Inc. until he became his dear father’s caregiver. Brian enjoyed all genres of music, and it was no secret of his love of Van Halen. He enjoyed all kinds of live music events. Brian was a sports fan following the Pittsburgh teams and Bill and Chase Elliott through NASCAR. He was a cast-iron collector and generously shared his knowledge with others. His restoration of cast-iron was remarkable. Brian was an active member of several antique metalware discussion groups on Facebook, serving as an Administrator or Moderator for three of them. He was also a member of Pressing Iron and Trivet Collectors of America (PITCA), which is the national organization for iron and trivet collectors. 

Brian is survived by his wife, Mary (Preston) Bean; Stepchildren, Joseph Meyers and Katie Meyers. 

Siblings: Roxanne Wigington (Jay), John Bean, Jr., Gregory Bean (Robin).

Sisters-in-law: Carol Lepley, Judy Mercer (Raymond), Ruth Thomas (John Buckholtz), Debbie Preston.  

Brothers-in-law: Bill Preston, David Preston (Audrey), Gary Preston (Bette Anne). 

Nieces: Jill Brooke, Karle Zembower (Tanner), Keri Bean (Drew Eberhardt) Great Nieces/Nephews: Haley, Gregory, Joe, Caylee and Chris. 

Aunts: Margaret Fram, Wanda Hanna, Christine Foote, Barbara Bean. 

Survived by Keith and Drew Gentry, who held a special place in Brian’s heart. 

In addition, his many cousins and friends who were more like brothers and sisters with Brian. 

A celebration of happy memories of Brian will take place at the Barton American Legion Post #189 on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at 1:00 p.m.
