Bertha Ethel Lease, 96, formerly of Vine St, Westernport, MD, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at the home of her daughter in Falling Waters, WV, where she had been residing.
Born March 26, 1916 in Westernport, she was the daughter of the late Overton Ellsworth and Bertha Louise (Poland) Fazenbaker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ira Lease, and a granddaughter, Donna Jean Whetsell. Bertha was the last of ten siblings.
Mrs. Lease was a 1934 graduate of Bruce High School. She was a retired cafeteria manager, having worked for the Allegany County Board of Education for 27 years. Mrs. Lease was a 50 year member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont, WV, where she had been active in the Aurora Derham Bible Class and the Messengers Bible Class. She is a former member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Westernport Senior Citizens.
She leaves behind a son, Joel Lease and wife Marjorie of Washington, PA, and a daughter with whom she resided, Barbara Whetsell and husband LeRoy of Falling Waters, WV, six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.
Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Saturday, November 10th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, where a funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM, with Rev. David Whetsell officiating and Pastor Tony Willis assisting.
Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
